Members Layouts - Garn (009 Gauge)
Garn is the upper terminus of a narrow-gauge line originally built in Victorian times primarily to serve quarries located somewhere in the Welsh borders. Passenger traffic ceased in the 1930s but the line continued to serve the quarries. The upper part of the line has now been handed over to a railway preservation group which is in the process of restoring it (as the 'Mire Forest Light Railway'). Although not yet fully operational the railway has occasional open days when a public service operates from the Group's HQ further down the line. In addition, works trains, private RPS members' trains and quarry trains using the terminus as a head-shunt may be seen. The Group is able to call upon a variety of narrow-gauge stock obtained or borrowed from both home and abroad to support its operations.
