Following the success of our Autumn 2018 Exhibition, we have decided for the first time to hold a Spring Exhibition in Redhill. This is in addition to our regular Autumn Exhibition in Dorking. We hope to see many new faces in Redhill as well as welcoming our regular visitors to Dorking. Click on the links above for more details of both exhibitions.
We are a small, friendly group interested in all things to do with railways and railway modeling and particularly BR Southern Region. We get together on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:30 pm until 10:00 pm, and also at other times, to build our layout, play trains and/or chat. Whether you are a railway modeler, or thinking of joining in our wonderful hobby, or just curious, do come along one evening. You’ll be very welcome! We have our own dedicated clubroom at the rear of Dorking Halls, High Street, Dorking (click for more details of our location — it can be confusing), so we don’t have to dismantle items between meetings. In addition to our Monday and Wednesday evening sessions, members come along on their own, or with other members, at any time to relax building their own models or doing some work on the club layout (or their own layout if it’s here). With the room comfortably warm, maybe music quietly in the background and rain on the roof, nothing could be better!
We have three completed layouts (Ranmore Junction, Dorking Town and Birch Coombe). We have two further layouts under construction. Betchley, a DCC controlled layout is well underway. The other is a total rebuild of our layout Earlingham which has proved popular at exhibitions but was in need of significant remedial work to maintain its reliablity.. If you fancy getting involved, then either contact us for more details or come along on one of our Club nights. You will be very welcome!
We also exhibit our layouts at other exhibitions, the most recent
being at the
Bluebell Railway Model Railway Weekend on 23rd and 24th June 2018,
Horsham Model Railway Club's Annual Exhibition in 2017 and at
Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway's
Open Day in July 2016.
We are also building strong ties with Horsham Model Railway Club through reciprocal visits and exchanging modelling ideas and tips and are keen to foster similar relationships with other Clubs in the area.
